The legislative branch is the law making body of the nation. It is composed of the senate and house of representatives. Some of it's jobs are things like declaring war and coining money. The executive branch is led by the president and is the law enforcing branch. It can veto conressional bills and can appoint judges to the supreme court. The third branch is the judicial bracnch, it interprets the law. The supremem courts main job is to decide whether any case brought to them is constitutional or not.
